Rotorua Cottage Escape
Thanks for checking us out! Our property is right on Lake Rotorua and the little guest cottage is just behind our home so you have total access to the lake and beachfront 24/7 (as noted in actual reviews below from other kiwis). The cottage itself faces towards Mt Ngongotaha and you will see amazing sunsets from the deck.
The cottage is a typical kiwi bach that we use when friends and family come to stay. So you'll note that it is not just set up quickly & cheaply; we furnished it for our own friends and family who often stay. Likewise the furniture is not brand-new, maybe a bit tired; but you'll find a super-comfortable bed, cozy kids bunks and absolutely everything that you need for a relaxing stay (and if you forget anything, we're right next door!)
Ngongotaha is 6km from the city centre so there is no sulphur smell here!
Usual Price: $230 per night
LiveLocal Price: $169 per night ✔️
No hidden extras! If you book through the LiveLocal website, our price includes everything!! No cleaning fees, no extra guest fees, no linen fees... just good honest, all inclusive pricing!
The Space
The only difference you'll note if you view our place on Airbnb is that LiveLocal doesn't add huge fees. We were shocked to hear guests tell us they pay $NZ90 in Airbnb fees for a 2 night stay! So when we heard about LiveLocal we decided we'd sign up and support kiwi businesses post-lockdown and help families have a holiday that's a wee bit cheaper!
Your wonderful, amazingly comfortable queen size bed (soft yet firm) looks out to Mt Ngongotaha from a fresh naturally-lit bedroom.
Each room has heaters & electric blankets available for cool nights, and fans for in Summer. In addition, all windows & doors on both sides open right up to allow for fresh air circulation plus the windows have insect screens. The bunk beds have high-quality mattress protectors & additional safety rails.
The living area is sunny with a sofa that may be reconfigured if you have an extra guest. The bunkroom is very compact but easily sleeps two children (it may be a bit cramped for adults over 6ft) - check the photos closely or email your questions :)

Absolute gem for a visit in Rotorua, you will be so glad if you book this cute lake cottage. The owners are so helpful and have thought of everything. It’s so comfortable and as a family who stays often in Airbnb-type places we appreciated all the extra pillows and blankets and super soft towels. The location is perfect nearby the main activities and you have lake access just paces away. The space is stylish. We had two kids in the bunk room and us in the main room and there was plenty of storage for all of our stuff. Kitchen is well-equipped. The owners really did make the stay extra special with all their help in getting to know the area.

The cottage was lovely, peaceful and a great place to unwind. It was super clean and comfortable. It was particularly nice to have a fully equipped kitchen to cook in. Access to the lake was a bonus and was great to cool off during the heatwave. Victoria and James were perfect hosts, they would stop to chat and made us feel extremely welcome throughout our stay. I would definitely stay there again when visiting Rotorua.

What a delight to stay in this comfortable, airy little cottage. My husband and my 4 year old boy and I went for long weekend getaway in Rotorua and felt very grateful to stay in a place that was so clean and close to all amenities. Victoria, the host, was so friendly and helpful with local tips for where to visit and even lent a bike for my little boy to ride around the cottage. She also made us feel very welcome to access the lake which is just a short walk past her house. We just loved our stay there and would recommend to anyone who is planning a trip to Rotorua.

What a beautiful place to stay with the most amazing hosts! Cottage is perfect, very clean with everything you need. Location was perfect for a relaxing family weekend away. Lake access is just out the front and we sure made certain we made the most of the water. Victoria is wonderful and so very helpful and accommodating. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived and had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back again!
