Kim B

*I have been living permanently in Whanarua Bay for 5 years. My ex-partner and I bought the property, then covered in blackberry, almost 30 years ago. It feels very special to live in this environment; we rarely experience frosts and so I can grow some sub-tropical fruits like banana, guava and casimoroa. *

I spend a part of each day outdoors working on gardening/maintenance projects. The garden is one of my happy places. The other one is the Bay itself where I walk with my dog every day. I like the joys and buzz of city life; the cafes, movies and galleries, but I'm happy to get home too. My role as kaitiaki of Motuaruhe means that I have a responsibility to share its beauty and peaceful magic with others. Living close to nature, even for a short time, will allow you to return home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
